An evening of live music and a picnic!

Fair Field School Choir and the Phoenix Concert Band performed brilliantly last night at the Picnic Concert. The band played a selection of songs, enjoyed by both the children and their parents, and made the audience laugh with their use of Kazoos. It was almost a game of name that tune with all the Disney favourites from films such as Hercules, Pirates of the Caribbean and Chicken Run. Elissa, Eleanor M, Olivia and Victoria performed ‘Walking in the Air’ beautifully, and Macy, accompanied by Elissa on the piano, sang an amazing version of Adele’s ‘Someone like you’. Read on...

The Phoenix Concert Band

The choir then performed their set of Oliver songs and narrative.  This was really impressive, especially considering some of the children had only just joined the choir and had learned the songs in a matter of weeks.  They all looked amazing in their costumes, which showed the commitment and enthusiasm of their parents and families.  All the narrators and soloists performed extremely well, and the choir sounded wonderful.
The choir and band performed ‘We’re all in this together’ for their Finale, and there was a closing collection which raised an amazing £140 for the PFA.  This will be used to help fund the next collaboration between the two groups – the performance of Joseph at the Radlett Centre in June 2012.
Special thanks must go to Mrs Trickett and Mrs Robinson who kindly set up all the chairs and tables.  We would also like to thank Mrs Igary for accompanying the choir – without her practise and dedication we would not be able to put on concerts like this at all.
