Year 5 travel back in time!
Today Year 5 have had a fantastic experience, it was their Victorian Day! The children arrived at school dressed authentically and ready to begin their Victorian experience. Read on and see photos...
The day began with the children learning about traditional Victorian instruments and a practice ‘sing song’.
Richard York, a historical interpreter, used artefacts and story telling to enthuse the children and relive the Victorian times.
The day was cleverly structured around rehearsing a performance whilst learning about daily life in the Victorian era. The children learnt about workhouse conditions, market life and Victorian entertainment.
The afternoon culminated in a spectacular performance, where the children acted, sang and danced. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and it really helped to bring their History topic to life.
We would like to thank the parents for making the day extra special through making costumes and supporting the children’s afternoon performance. Without parental support, events like today would not be possible.
